The landscapes of the desert Southwest and the human body inspire my forms and colors. Currently, I am exploring the abstract, sculptural, and improvisational possibilities of micromosaic. I feel that the micromosaic comes into being the instant the container (vessel) is united with the contained (tessera). My movement-based aesthetic sensibilities seek vessel-spaces that are both circumscribed and expansive. Recent work, extemporaneously composed, attempts to 'activate' each tessera in a play of exertion and recuperation. In so doing, I seek to engage our mysterious capacities to generate viable aggregates that are both stable and mobile--objects which, first and foremost, tempt the eyes into an intimate and enduring dance.
